Development Authority, Lucknow – Decentralised sewage treatment and recycling plants

Claimed to be Asia’s largest garden, Janeshwar Mishra Park has been conceptualised and designed as a multi-functional environmental and recreational green which will not just provide sustainable habitat for various species of birds but also double up as a major entertainment and recreation centre for all sections of the society. The site for the park is bordered by river Gomti and has been developed as an eco-friendly public space by Lucknow Development Authority (LDA).

Project:

Setting up decentralised sewage treatment plants at 22 sites within the park for treating the sewage from public toilet complexes and recycling the treated water for horticulture.

Impact:

After completion, the project will collectively treat over 300 KL of sewage every day and reuse this water for horticulture thus reducing an equivalent load on groundwater and cutting down the load on sewerage system/ Gomti river in the city.
