Delhi has been struggling with the issue of water supply over the past few years now. The groundwater level is depleting at an alarming rate and it’s difficult to find water supply to maintain green pockets of the city. With surplus wastewater flowing in the open drains throughout the city, we conceptualised idea of using treated nallah water to meet this demand.
Project:
A 5 KLD pilot was setup under the guidance of Municipal Corporation of Delhi for treating nallah water using GBF technology and recycling this treated water to maintain the green pockets in the area.
Impact:
This pilot project showcases the vast potential of reusing nallah water in urban scenarios for maintaining parks, golf courses and other green patches within the city. This in turn also reduces the load of nallahs which further flow into the rivers and curbs the excessive pumping of groundwater.
