Located around 80 km south of Bikaner, Mukam is a holy place for the Bishnoi community which has been practicing sustainability for decades. Conservationists by nature, the Bishnoi Mahasabha were pioneers in their area to tap the Solar potential and use it for lighting up the dark and desolate streets around the temple.
Project:
Setting up a rooftop solar power plant for street lights around the area.
Impact:
The project proved to be a great success as it cut down the heavy generator requirements and started rolling savings from Day 1. The Mahasabha is not dependent on the grid supply or generator anymore and the temple is well-lit with the solar lights throughout the night.
